In 1986 Edgeworth Engineering Ltd was established by Brian Murphy and Roy Tucker, over the next fourteen years they steadily grew the business and gained a loyal following for their quality workmanship.
In 2000 Brian and Roy sold the business to Paul Reid and Paul Duncan who were then working as contractors for North Harbour Toolmaking. The company was renamed Egdeworth 2000 Ltd. In 2001 Paul and Paul invested in CAD CAM software and CNC machinery to take advantage of the improved accuracy and speed that the technology was bringing to the industry following this with a second machining centre and a CNC lathe in 2005.
Edgeworth 2000 Ltd now employs 4 staff with both Paul Reid and Paul Duncan working alongside them on the workshop floor. The vision for the future is to expand the business with a wire cut EDM and a 5 axis machining centre in the future budget.
Paul started his toolmaking apprenticeship in 1972 at Lamanei Plastics leaving there to work at Probert Industries where he became toolroom foreman. He left there and gained experience in vacuum thermo-forming at Engelfield Plastics and Clearlite Industries before working on contract at North Harbour Tooling. In 2000 Paul joined with Paul Duncan to purchase Edgeworth Engineering.
In his spare time Paul enjoys golf, fishing and family weekends on his launch that is kept at Gulf Harbour.
Paul completed his apprenticeship at Ingersoll Rand producing press tools before moving to H J Ryan, Crighton Engineering, Project Design and AHI Metal Containers. At J M Shubel Ltd he learned plastic injection mould making before moving to North Harbour Tooling where he worked on zinc die cast moulds as a contractor. There he met Paul Reid, forming their partnership to purchase Edgeworth Engineering in 2000.
In his spare time Paul enjoys golf and fishing.
